WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that U.S. forces carried out a fresh round of military strikes targeting dozens of Iranian military installations near the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s coastal regions.
According to a statement released by CENTCOM on Wednesday, the operation was completed at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and involved coordinated attacks by U.S. fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels.
The U.S. military said the seven-hour operation targeted Iranian missile and drone facilities, naval assets, and coastal defense systems with precision-guided munitions. The strikes, it said, were aimed at reducing Iran’s capability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian vessels operating in the Gulf region.
CENTCOM also announced that the military operation coincided with the resumption of a U.S. naval blockade on vessels travelling to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas. According to the command, the blockade took effect at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the same day.
The latest military action comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and growing concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategic maritime routes through which a significant share of global oil exports passes.
U.S. officials said the renewed military campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to weaken Iran’s military capabilities and protect international shipping in the region.
CENTCOM further stated that American forces remain on high alert and are prepared to conduct additional operations if directed by the U.S. President.
The latest strikes follow previous U.S. military operations against Iranian military infrastructure in recent days, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to intensify.
