A man believed to be of Indian origin has been arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder, after a vehicle rammed into pedestrians in Derby, leaving seven people seriously injured.
The shocking incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday in the busy Friar Gate area, when a black Suzuki Swift reportedly mounted the pavement and struck several pedestrians.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly at the scene, treating the victims before transporting them to hospital. Authorities confirmed that all seven injured persons sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, with no fatalities recorded.
According to police, a man in his 30s was apprehended shortly after the attack. He is currently in custody and faces charges including attempted murder, dangerous driving, and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
