A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of popular content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, widely known as Odogwu Asaba, at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre over allegations connected to the rape and death of a 20-year-old woman, Favour Agbro.
The court granted the remand order on Friday, September 4, 2026, following the conclusion of investigations into the matter.
Counsel representing the family of the deceased, Awele Ideal, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the results of the autopsy and toxicology examinations had been released to the police investigation team.
According to Ideal, the findings, alongside other evidence gathered during the investigation, have been incorporated into the case file ahead of prosecution.
She stated that the application seeking Ogbonna’s remand was heard and granted by the court, adding that he would remain at the correctional facility and be produced in court as proceedings continue.
Ideal also said she was representing the family on a pro bono basis and remained committed to ensuring that the case receives proper legal attention.
The development was also confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, who announced that Ogbonna had been transferred to the Ogwashi-Uku correctional facility following the court’s decision.
According to reports, the remand followed the completion of preliminary investigations and the release of autopsy and toxicology results to investigators.
The case is now expected to move towards prosecution, with the Delta State Ministry of Justice, including the Office of the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions, expected to handle the next stage of legal proceedings.
How the Case Began
Ogbonna was earlier arrested following allegations involving the late Favour Agbro, who reportedly died after ingesting a toxic substance.
The incident attracted widespread public attention after reports emerged that the deceased had recorded a video before her death, in which she reportedly narrated details of an alleged encounter with the content creator.
According to accounts surrounding the case, Favour had travelled to Asaba after allegedly being invited to participate in a content creation training programme advertised on social media.
She was subsequently alleged to have been taken to a hotel, where she claimed she was sexually assaulted.
After returning home, she reportedly informed members of her family about the alleged incident and later recorded a video recounting her experience.
She subsequently ingested a toxic substance and later died.
Following a petition by the deceased’s family, the Delta State Police Command launched an investigation into the allegations, leading to Ogbonna’s arrest.
Investigators also conducted autopsy and toxicology examinations as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding Favour’s death.
Case Moves Towards Trial
With the court ordering his remand, the matter has now progressed from the investigation stage towards formal prosecution.
Ogbonna is expected to be produced before the court as the legal process continues.
