President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to pay an official one-day visit to Adamawa State on Monday, with extensive security arrangements already activated across the state ahead of his arrival.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that the visit will focus on commissioning major infrastructure projects and engaging with top government officials, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
Key Projects To Be Commissioned
Among the major highlights of the visit is the inauguration of the newly completed eight-lane Galadima Aminu Road linking Gimba to the state capital, Yola. The road is expected to ease transportation challenges, enhance connectivity, and boost economic activities in the region.
The President will also inaugurate a newly built model school comprising pre-primary, primary, and junior secondary sections, part of broader efforts to expand access to quality education.
Other projects listed in the itinerary include a modern multipurpose hall, a remodelled High Court complex, a newly constructed officers’ residential complex, and the renovated Government House.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja immediately after completing his engagements.
Heavy Security Deployment
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force in Adamawa has announced heightened security measures ahead of the presidential visit.
Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje stated that the command has been placed on high alert, with personnel and operational assets deployed across strategic locations statewide.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, has ordered the deployment of specialized tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, surveillance teams, and traffic control officers.
Anti-bomb squads have also been deployed to sweep event venues and major access roads to ensure maximum safety before and during the visit.
Security Context
The intensified security comes amid lingering concerns following a deadly December 2025 attack in Hong Local Government Area, where suspected insurgents killed at least 14 residents.
Authorities say the current measures are aimed at preventing any security breach and ensuring a smooth and peaceful presidential visit.
Tinubu’s trip to Adamawa comes less than 48 hours after his visit to Kebbi State, where he inaugurated key projects and attended the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
