Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered a shocking drug smuggling method after intercepting cannabis concealed inside a children’s toy guitar, while also dismantling a synthetic drug production lab in Lagos.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the operation began in Abuja when officers intercepted a waybill package sent from Enugu. Inside the toy guitar, operatives discovered two parcels of a potent cannabis strain known as “Canadian Loud,” weighing 59.2 grams.
Following the discovery, NDLEA operatives tracked and arrested the alleged owner, Henry Onuma, at Dream City Estate in the Life Camp area of Abuja.
In a separate but related operation in Lagos, NDLEA officers raided a four-bedroom duplex in the Ikate-Elegushi area of Lekki, uncovering a fully equipped synthetic drug production and storage facility.
The raid was triggered after authorities seized 73 cartons of nitrous oxide along the Ajah–Epe Expressway. During the operation, officers recovered 13.2 kilograms of freshly produced synthetic cannabis known as “Colorado” (Colos), along with several precursor chemicals.
Two suspects — Amos Innocent, who was arrested while transporting the shipment, and Victor Oyedeji, apprehended at the Lekki residence — are currently in custody.
NDLEA officials say the coordinated operations are part of an intensified nationwide crackdown targeting drug trafficking networks and illegal drug manufacturing across Nigeria.
