The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed 43 of its personnel in a sweeping disciplinary action targeting desertion, scandalous conduct, and patrol-related misconduct.
SUNTV Global Channel gathered that the decisive move was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, and signed by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.
According to the statement, 31 officers were dismissed for desertion, five for scandalous behaviour, while seven were removed over patrol misconduct.
The FRSC leadership described the action as a strong demonstration of its zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline, stressing that the Corps will not allow any conduct capable of damaging its integrity or eroding public trust.
Corps Marshal Mohammed noted that wearing the FRSC uniform represents honour, discipline, and responsibility, warning that any personnel who violate the agency’s standards will face strict disciplinary measures.
He described desertion as a grave breach of oath, particularly for a critical safety agency responsible for protecting millions of road users nationwide.
Mohammed further stated that scandalous conduct and patrol misconduct undermine public confidence and contradict the Corps’ core values of professionalism, transparency, and service excellence.
He assured Nigerians that the FRSC remains committed to maintaining high ethical standards, adding that the Corps will intensify internal monitoring, strengthen supervision across commands, and reinforce ethical reorientation programmes.
The agency also called on the public to continue supporting its operations and to maintain confidence in its mandate of ensuring safer roads across the country.
