Nigeria Police Launch Nationwide Data Verification Exercise Ahead of Housing Fund Refunds

July 30, 2026

ABUJA, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has directed all commands, formations, and affiliated units nationwide to participate in a comprehensive National Housing Fund (NHF) data capture and verification exercise aimed at updating personnel records and facilitating the processing of housing fund refunds for eligible officers upon retirement.

The directive was contained in an internal police wireless message dated July 27, 2026, and circulated to senior officers and strategic police formations across the country.

According to the communication, the exercise follows a strategic collaboration between the Nigeria Police National Housing Fund (NPF-NHF) Project and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to address issues relating to NHF registration, data integrity, contribution reconciliation, contributor identification, and refund processing.

The nationwide exercise will also include eligible civilian employees and teachers serving within the Nigeria Police structure.

Police authorities announced that a joint team from the NPF-NHF Project and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria will conduct the physical data capture and verification exercise from August 3 to August 17, 2026.

The exercise is expected to verify contributors, update existing NHF records, establish a reliable database, and ensure the timely processing of National Housing Fund refunds for qualified police personnel upon retirement.

To simplify the process, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has provided a dedicated online registration and records update portal for officers and eligible personnel.

The Inspector-General of Police Secretariat has instructed all commands and formations to give the exercise wide publicity and ensure full compliance, describing it as a matter of urgent national importance.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the integrity of the Nigeria Police housing database while improving transparency and efficiency in the administration of housing fund contributions and retirement refund payments.
