The Resident Pastor of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Azugwu, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Pastor Isah Lazarus Alkali, has encouraged Christians to embrace biblical principles of prosperity, emphasizing that wealth is a blessing from God when acquired and managed according to His Word.
Delivering a sermon titled “Financial Fortune Is My Heritage”, Pastor Alkali, speaking from 2 Corinthians 8:9, stated that money is not evil, adding that God is not opposed to His children enjoying the blessings He provides.
According to him, genuine enjoyment is an expression of God’s goodness and should be accompanied by gratitude and obedience. He urged believers to remain aligned with God’s purpose and timing, citing Deuteronomy 8:18, which teaches that God gives His people the power to create wealth.
Speaking on stewardship and giving, the cleric reminded worshippers that faithful giving is an act of worship and encouraged members to remain committed to supporting the work of God in the place where they receive spiritual nourishment. He also prayed for divine blessings upon the congregation.
Highlighting the channels through which God blesses His people, Pastor Alkali identified divine direction as a vital key to success.
“Life without divine direction leads to frustration,” he said.
He further explained that God blesses individuals through the work of their hands, urging Christians to embrace diligence and reject laziness. Referring to Psalm 1:1–3, he noted that those who remain productive and rooted in God’s principles will experience lasting prosperity.
Addressing young women, the pastor advised them to develop productive skills, careers or businesses before pursuing marriage, stressing the importance of becoming financially and purposefully established.
“Doing nothing and expecting to prosper is a big joke,” he told the congregation.
Pastor Alkali also described divine favour as another major channel through which God blesses His people. Quoting Genesis 39:1–3, he referenced the life of Joseph, noting that God’s favour can elevate a person regardless of their circumstances or location.
“It doesn’t matter where you are; God can still locate you and favour you. You cannot stop the person God has chosen to bless,” he declared.
He concluded the service by praying for the congregation and encouraging believers to remain steadfast in faith, obedience, hard work and complete dependence on God’s direction, assuring them that these principles remain the foundation for sustainable prosperity.
