The Nigeria Police Force has rescued an abducted woman and her two-year-old son during a tactical operation carried out in a forest hideout in Bode Sadu, Kwara State.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), working alongside local security support groups, launched the operation on Saturday following credible intelligence on the victims’ location.
Police said the kidnappers opened fire when they spotted the advancing security team. However, the operatives responded decisively, forcing the suspects to flee deeper into the forest.
Following a thorough search of the area, the security team successfully rescued Adijat Kuburat (43) and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from the kidnappers’ camp.
The victims have been taken to a medical facility, where they are receiving treatment and necessary care.
The police also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction.
Commending the operatives, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, praised their bravery and professionalism, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
