The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), the campaign organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has called for an independent investigation into the alleged assassination plot involving the Director-General of the APC’s AMBO Campaign, Hon. Wole Oke.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, the council’s spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, alleged that the Osun State Police Command colluded with officials of the APC campaign to fabricate the assassination plot for political purposes.
According to the campaign council, a newly surfaced video contradicts the police’s account of the alleged assassination attempt and raises questions about the integrity of the investigation conducted by the Osun State Police Command.
The council demanded the immediate release of all video recordings and confessional statements obtained from the suspects, arguing that Nigerians deserve full access to the evidence rather than what it described as selective disclosures.
TICC also called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission to order an independent review of the investigation and ensure that any officer found to have acted improperly is held accountable.
The campaign further urged the police to arraign the suspects in court if sufficient evidence exists, insisting that the matter should be subjected to judicial scrutiny rather than prolonged police investigation.
The controversy follows the recent arrest and parade of three suspects by the Osun State Police Command over an alleged assassination attempt on Hon. Wole Oke, Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council. Police said they recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition from one of the suspects.
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had earlier commended the police for foiling the alleged assassination plot and praised the command’s efforts to maintain security ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Hon. Wole Oke nor the Osun State Police Command had officially responded to the fresh allegations made by the Imole Campaign Council.
