Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service over the alleged killing of a fellow Nigerian in Tamale, Ghana, following a reported dispute linked to proceeds from suspected internet fraud activities.
The suspects, identified as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were arrested in connection with the death of 36-year-old Nkemujika Uzorchukwu Eze, whose body was discovered inside his apartment in the Sanzirigu area of Tamale on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
According to the Northern Regional Police Command, the deceased lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzorchukwu, the two suspects, and another Nigerian identified as Godwin Nwafor.
Police said the investigation began after receiving a distress report that the victim had been found lying in a pool of blood inside his bedroom. Officers who visited the scene reportedly discovered a deep injury on his forehead, with a towel allegedly forced into his mouth. The room was also found in disorder, suggesting a possible struggle and search for valuables.
Investigators recovered a wooden pestle believed to have been used during the attack, alongside other items considered important to the case.
The victim was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. His body was later deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
The Ghana Police Service said intelligence gathered during the investigation led officers to Tatale, where the two suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to cross into neighbouring Togo.
Following their arrest, the suspects were transferred to the Tamale District Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further questioning.
Police alleged that during interrogation, the suspects admitted to conspiring against the deceased after accusing him of withholding money generated from suspected online fraud operations.
A search conducted by investigators reportedly led to the recovery of items believed to have been taken from the victim’s apartment, including mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewellery, wristwatches, clothing, personal documents, and other valuables.
The recovered items have been kept as exhibits as investigations continue.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed that the suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear before a court as authorities continue efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
