The government of United Kingdom has issued an urgent security alert directing its citizens in parts of the Middle East to immediately seek safe shelter following escalating missile attacks linked to Iran.
According to official statements, Britons living in Gulf nations — including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates — have been warned to remain indoors and move to secure locations as tensions rapidly intensify between Iran and the United States and its allies.
In a message shared via social media, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed it has temporarily withdrawn diplomatic staff from Iran due to worsening security conditions.
However, officials stated that the British Embassy in Tehran continues to operate remotely to maintain communication with UK nationals in the country.
The travel advisory has also been updated, strongly discouraging all travel to Iran, Israel, and Palestinian territories because of closed airspace, ongoing military exchanges, and heightened regional instability.
British authorities reiterated their long-standing stance that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, stressing that preventing proliferation remains critical to regional and global security.
Despite the rising tensions, the UK emphasised its commitment to diplomatic solutions and efforts to prevent the conflict from expanding into a broader Middle East war.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened an emergency COBRA national security meeting to coordinate Britain’s response and assess potential risks to UK citizens and interests abroad.
Officials also clarified that while Britain did not participate in recent military strikes against Iran, it has strengthened defensive measures across the region to protect its allies and strategic assets.
The crisis has sparked debate within UK politics. Some opposition figures are demanding stronger condemnation of the US and Israeli strikes on Iran, arguing they could worsen global instability.
Meanwhile, senior Conservative voices have backed allied actions, citing concerns over Iran’s missile capabilities and nuclear ambitions.
SUNTV Global Channel will continue to monitor developments as the situation unfolds across the Middle East.
