Fresh controversy has engulfed Tantita Security Services in Ondo State as its Ondo Coordinator, Asonja Idowu Felix, is set to appear before the police today over serious allegations of assault, arson, and threats to life.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that Asonja showed up at the Zone 17 Police Command in Akure on Thursday after reportedly ignoring two previous invitations. However, police officials did not take his statement, insisting that all parties involved in the case must be present before any formal proceedings could begin.
“They made it clear that everyone involved must be available. So they didn’t attend to him until all parties are ready. The meeting was fixed for today (Friday) in Akure,” a source said.
The allegations stem from a petition accusing Asonja and several employees of Tantita’s Ondo branch of violently attacking a former senior staff member, invading his residence in Okitipupa, assaulting him, and destroying property valued at over ₦10 million.
According to insiders, Asonja reportedly left the police station on Thursday boasting to associates that he had “settled” the police and assured them that nothing would come of the case. “He even said he promised the IPO that he would put him on his payroll,” a source alleged.
One of Asonja’s associates, reportedly uncomfortable with his alleged abuse of power, leaked this information to the public. Concerned parties are now calling for transparency, warning that the investigation could be compromised without public scrutiny.
The controversy follows a December 2025 incident in which Chief Ayodele Omodogbe, the Oloja Apadehin of Idepe, accused Asonja of leading a violent night attack on his residence. In a video obtained by SUNTV Global, the monarch claimed armed men, including soldiers, attacked his neighborhood and later set ablaze a building housing his cooperative society, destroying financial records and contributory funds, while issuing threats against him and his family.
In a petition dated January 7, 2026, lawyers representing a former Chief Security Officer and Operations Manager at Tantita’s Ondo branch accused Asonja of orchestrating an early morning invasion of their client’s apartment in Okitipupa, involving assault, forced entry, property destruction, and arson, with total losses estimated at over ₦10 million.
Tantita Security Services has previously dismissed similar allegations as false and malicious, suggesting that the claims are linked to individuals targeted during its anti-oil theft operations.
