A disturbing incident has emerged from Abia State, where a serving member of the Nigerian Army has been caught and accused of involvement in a high-profile robbery operation.
SUNTV Global Channel gathered that the suspect, identified as Lance Corporal Chukwu Ebuka, allegedly robbed an unidentified victim of the sum of ₦4,999,000 while armed with dangerous weapons.
According to reports, the soldier claimed to be attached to the 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Ohafia. He was apprehended and later seen in a viral video undergoing interrogation by a superior officer.
During the questioning, the suspect was found in possession of two axes and a pair of handcuffs, reportedly used to carry out the operation. He appeared confused at some points while responding to questions about his identity and service history.
When asked to confirm his name, he stated, “Lance Corporal Chukwu Ebuka,” and openly admitted that his actions were wrong.
“It’s very, very wrong of me… my action was illegal,” he confessed.
The interrogating officer, visibly angered, condemned the act and expressed disappointment over the growing misconduct among some personnel.
“How can you go and carry someone for nothing? Look at the kind of axe you used on your fellow human being,” the officer said, criticizing the brutality of the act.
The suspect disclosed that the victim was dispossessed of ₦4.9 million, and he personally received ₦1.5 million as his share of the proceeds.
Further revelations indicated that the operation was not carried out alone. The suspect claimed another soldier, identified only as “Ifeanyi,” and said to be serving at the 13th Brigade, was also involved.
The officer also highlighted the use of handcuffs to restrain the victim, describing the act as disgraceful and damaging to the image of the Nigerian Army.
“You are not representing us well,” the officer lamented, warning that such actions bring public ridicule to the force.
As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Army has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
This development has sparked serious concerns over discipline, accountability, and criminal activities among some members of the armed forces.
