Residents of Bargaja Village in Sokoto State have reportedly abandoned their homes following repeated attacks allegedly carried out by bandits loyal to Bello Turji.
Security analyst Bakatsine said villagers were seen leaving in groups, loading vehicles with their belongings as they moved to safer nearby communities.
“The residents are fleeing because almost on a daily basis armed bandits attack their community, killing and kidnapping countless people,” Bakatsine explained. He noted that the exodus continued despite ongoing Ramadan fasting observed by many residents.
A video obtained by SaharaReporters shows families leaving the village en masse, highlighting growing fear and insecurity among the population.
Attempts to reach Rufa’i Ahmed for comment were unsuccessful.
This incident underscores the escalating insecurity in Northwest Nigeria, with communities increasingly forced to abandon homes due to banditry and kidnappings.
