The Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, has alleged that he received death threats from individuals he identified as suspected Fulani herdsmen, claiming they vowed to kill him after previously killing nine of his relatives.
In a statement shared on his X account on Friday, the cleric said he received threatening letters written in both Hausa and English. According to him, copies of the letters have already been handed over to security agencies for investigation.
Dachomo alleged that the threats warned he would be attacked, just as nine members of his family were reportedly killed in previous incidents.
Despite the alleged threats, the cleric said he remains resolute and is not living in fear, stating that he believes his life is in God’s hands.
He also reflected on the personal loss he has suffered, saying he has witnessed the pain of burying loved ones and comforting families affected by violence in Plateau State.
The cleric suggested that his advocacy on behalf of victims of violence and persecuted Christians may have made him a target. He insisted that he would continue speaking out against attacks on innocent people despite the risks.
Dachomo appealed to the international community to pay closer attention to the security situation affecting communities in parts of Nigeria and called for justice for victims of violence. He urged governments, religious leaders, and human rights organisations to support efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable communities and promoting lasting peace.
