Norway Crown Princess Admits Past Contact With Epstein, Claims She Was ‘Deceived’

Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit has admitted to having past contact with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, saying she was “manipulated and deceived” during their association.

The revelation follows the release of millions of documents by the United States Department of Justice, shedding fresh light on Epstein’s global network of high-profile connections, including politicians, diplomats, and business elites.

In an interview with Norwegian broadcaster NRK, the Crown Princess expressed deep regret over the relationship.

“I was manipulated and deceived. Of course, I wish I had never met him,” she said.

According to reports, Mette-Marit remained in contact with Epstein between 2011 and 2014—years after his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor. Documents also indicate she visited his residence in Palm Beach, Florida, during a private trip in 2013.

Despite the controversy, there have been no allegations of criminal wrongdoing against the Norwegian royal. However, the disclosures have sparked public outrage and renewed scrutiny of the monarchy in Norway.

The situation has intensified political pressure, with growing calls for transparency and accountability from the royal household. Recent opinion polls suggest declining support for the monarchy, with increasing interest in a republican system.

Mette-Marit, who is married to Crown Prince Haakon—the heir to the Norwegian throne—has reportedly apologised to King Harald and Queen Sonja over the incident.

“I’ve never seen anything illegal,” she added, distancing herself from Epstein’s criminal activities.

Epstein, once a powerful financier, was convicted in 2008 for offences involving a minor and later faced federal charges in 2019 for sex trafficking. He died in custody while awaiting trial, with authorities ruling his death a suicide.

The scandal is considered one of the most damaging to Norway’s royal family in recent years, raising serious questions about judgment, associations, and the far-reaching influence Epstein maintained before his death.
