Fresh political tension is brewing in Osun State as Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), launched a scathing attack on Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing his administration as a failure across critical sectors.
Speaking at a gathering of APC stakeholders in Osogbo, where the party’s governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji was present, Basiru accused the Adeleke-led government of underperforming in education, infrastructure, and healthcare.
In a viral video from the event, Basiru said he had earlier “thrown a bomb” at the governor, alleging that the administration scored “F9” in key sectors.
“I threw a bomb to Governor Adeleke yesterday. I said their government got F9 in education, infrastructure and health,” he declared while addressing party supporters.
Basiru further stirred controversy by ridiculing Adeleke’s academic background, claiming the governor sat for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination at an advanced age.
“The reason why he failed in education is because he did NECO at 64 years old, so he doesn’t know the value of education,” Basiru alleged, drawing reactions from the crowd.
The remarks come amid an escalating war of words between the APC and the Osun State government ahead of the governorship race.
Recently, the Adeleke administration, through its spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, accused APC candidate Oyebamiji of corruption linked to a World Bank primary healthcare grant and alleged mismanagement of state mining licences.
The state government insisted that Governor Adeleke’s performance remains visible to the public, while questioning the credibility and suitability of the APC candidate for office.
With both sides trading accusations, the political atmosphere in Osun continues to intensify as the battle for leadership gains momentum.
