OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — The factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen, has claimed that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, faces an uphill battle to retain his seat in the August 15 governorship election, insisting that the outcome of the poll will depend on the governor’s performance in office.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Imumolen alleged that many residents of Osun State were dissatisfied with the current administration and were prepared to vote based on governance, accountability, and development rather than political rhetoric.

He argued that Governor Adeleke should take responsibility for the challenges facing his administration instead of blaming external political forces, maintaining that voters would ultimately judge the government’s performance at the ballot box.

The Accord Party chieftain also alleged that despite the state’s statutory allocations, the administration had failed to deliver the level of development expected by many citizens across key sectors.

Imumolen further claimed that opinion polls available to his faction suggested that Governor Adeleke’s chances of re-election had weakened significantly ahead of the governorship poll.

Responding to concerns raised by the governor’s camp over possible electoral malpractice, the Accord Party leader dismissed the allegations, describing them as attempts to explain a potential electoral defeat before voting begins.

He maintained that the forthcoming election should reflect the will of the people and urged voters to participate peacefully while exercising their constitutional right to choose their preferred candidate.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state ahead of the crucial poll.

SUNTV Global Channel will continue to provide balanced, accurate, and timely coverage of developments before, during, and after the Osun State governorship election.
