Israeli Prime Minister has reaffirmed his government’s determination to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, declaring that he and U.S. President are in complete agreement on the issue.
In a statement posted on social media, Netanyahu described Iran’s nuclear programme as a major threat to Israel’s security and vowed that Tehran would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons during his tenure as prime minister.
“As long as I am Prime Minister of Israel, Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu stated, adding that there is “full agreement” between himself and President Trump regarding efforts to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The Israeli leader argued that decades of international pressure and opposition to Iran’s nuclear programme had prevented the country from developing atomic weapons. He further accused Tehran of seeking the destruction of Israel and pledged to continue efforts aimed at countering what he described as a serious security threat.
Netanyahu’s remarks come amid heightened tensions across the Middle East following months of military confrontations involving Israel, Iran, and the United States.
The ongoing conflict, which escalated earlier this year, has seen missile and drone exchanges, attacks on strategic facilities, and growing concerns about wider regional instability. Despite ceasefire efforts and ongoing diplomatic engagements, tensions remain high as negotiations aimed at securing a lasting peace continue.
Israel has consistently maintained that Iran’s nuclear activities pose an existential threat to the country. Iranian authorities, however, continue to insist that their nuclear programme is intended solely for peaceful civilian purposes and not for the development of nuclear weapons.
Observers say Netanyahu’s latest comments are likely to intensify diplomatic tensions at a time when international efforts to reduce hostilities and revive negotiations remain uncertain.
