A Customary Court sitting in Masaka, Nasarawa State, has ordered the remand of Sulaiman Abdullahi, an alleged ally of powerful political interests linked to Mamman Daura, following a violent attack on court officials over a disputed land in Maraba, Karu Local Government Area.
The incident occurred during the lawful service of a court summons in connection with a long-running land dispute in the rapidly expanding Maraba axis.
According to court documents and eyewitness accounts obtained by SUNTV Global, officials of the Masaka Customary Court were ambushed while attempting to serve a summons on Alhaji Ibrahim, popularly known as “Alhajin Villa.”
During the attack, the assailants allegedly used cutlasses and other weapons, inflicting injuries on a court staff member, forcibly seizing his mobile phones, and deliberately obstructing the execution of court duties.
Sulaiman Abdullahi was later arrested and arraigned before the court, which ordered his immediate remand at the Keffi Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
Meanwhile, the court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Alhaji Ibrahim, who is currently on the run, alongside other suspects who reportedly fled the area to evade arrest.
Alhaji Ibrahim is accused of using the names of Mamman Daura, late former President Muhammadu Buhari, and their family to intimidate residents and allegedly seize lands in Maraba, while claiming protection from powerful political connections.
The court has now directed relevant security agencies to track down and arrest Alhaji Ibrahim and other accomplices to face charges bordering on criminal assault, obstruction of justice, and intimidation of court officials.
Sources further revealed that several individuals who previously claimed land ownership under alleged political cover have since retreated or disappeared following the end of the Buhari administration in 2023, raising fresh questions about years of unchecked land grabbing in the area.
The case has heightened concerns over the safety of judicial officers and the growing influence of political intimidation in land disputes across Nasarawa State.
