Fresh findings from Nigeria’s public payments portal, Govspend, have revealed that the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, spent at least ₦104.9 million on the production of ACP-IGP customised berets between August and October 2025.
A review of records obtained by SUNTV Global Channel shows that on October 22, 2025, the police paid ₦21.8 million to Fasmaz Kiri Enterprise for the production of 1,550 pieces of ACP-IGP customised berets.
Earlier, on August 28, 2025, another payment of ₦83.1 million was made to Jh Partners Limited for the production of 5,000 ACP-IGP berets, bringing total expenditure on berets alone to ₦104.9 million within a three-month period.
Millions Spent on IGP-Branded Towels
Beyond berets, Govspend records further show that the Nigerian Police Force spent ₦59.4 million between April and November 2024 on the production of Inspector-General of Police customised towels and “other items.”
On April 30, 2024, four separate payments were recorded on the same day:
- ₦8.4 million paid to Oran Global Investment Limited for the supply of 780 IGP-customised towels
- ₦8.5 million paid to Chumchuks Investment Limited for 700 customised towels
- ₦8.6 million paid to Waves Fillment Limited for 640 customised towels
- ₦8.7 million again paid to Oran Global Investment Limited for 920 customised towels
Further payments followed later in the year. On November 14, 2024, the police paid:
- ₦8.7 million to Oran Global Investment Limited for 800 IGP-customised towels
- ₦7.9 million for the supply of 700 customised towels
- ₦8.6 million for additional IGP-branded towels distributed to police commands and formations nationwide
Altogether, these transactions show that nearly ₦60 million was spent within seven months on towels bearing the Inspector-General’s branding.
₦22.2 Million on Cream Crackers Biscuits
In another set of controversial expenditures, Govspend records reveal that the Nigerian Police Force spent ₦22.282 million on just 85 cartons of Cream Crackers biscuits between August and October 2023.
On October 26, 2023, ₦7.073 million was paid to Danlokey Systems Limited for 25 cartons, reportedly for personnel involved in discreet security operations. This translates to ₦282,928 per carton.
On October 4, 2023, the same amount — ₦7.073 million — was again paid to the same company for 30 cartons of Cream Crackers intended for intelligence operations in Taraba State.
Earlier, on August 30, 2023, another ₦8.136 million was paid for 30 cartons meant for operations in Yobe State.
Across the three transactions, the average cost per carton of Cream Crackers stood at approximately ₦261,717, raising further questions about procurement practices within the police force.
Growing Public Concerns
These expenditures come at a time when Nigerians continue to raise concerns over police welfare, inadequate equipment, poor funding of frontline security operations, and rising insecurity across the country.
Transparency advocates argue that such spending priorities, especially on branded items, raise serious questions about accountability, value for money, and the actual impact of these expenses on public safety.
