The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Hon. Yahaya Yari, broke down in tears on Friday while attending the funeral of 15 residents killed in a brutal bandit attack on Tungar Bore settlement in Sado village.
An emotional video from the burial showed the council chairman struggling to speak as grieving families laid their loved ones to rest. Overcome with emotion, Yari appealed to the Federal Government to urgently address the worsening security crisis ravaging Zamfara and other North-West states.
Speaking during the funeral, the chairman called on President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action against the relentless attacks by armed bandits. He also urged the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to personally convey the pain and suffering of Zamfara communities to the President, noting that Matawalle is the state’s representative in the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
According to reports, the victims—14 men and one woman—were killed during the attack on Tungar Bore. They were buried on Friday amid tears, grief, and renewed calls for stronger security measures.
The chairman’s emotional breakdown reflected the anguish felt by countless families who have lost loved ones to repeated bandit attacks.
The latest tragedy adds to the growing wave of deadly violence across Zamfara and other North-West states, where communities continue to face killings, kidnappings, cattle rustling, and destruction of farmlands despite ongoing military operations.
Residents and local leaders are once again calling on the Federal Government to take decisive steps to restore peace, protect lives, and end the persistent insecurity that has displaced thousands and disrupted livelihoods across the region.
