The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of allegedly harbouring individuals on the police wanted list within the Government House, intensifying political tensions ahead of the state’s August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The allegation was made in a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, following a stakeholders’ meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, in Osun State.
According to the APC, Governor Adeleke denied the allegations during the meeting, insisting that he was not protecting any wanted persons. The governor reportedly stated that anyone found guilty of breaking the law—including members of his own family—should be arrested and prosecuted.
However, the opposition party rejected the governor’s response, describing it as inadequate. The APC claimed that some individuals allegedly on the police wanted list had been seen attending political and social events with the governor. It also alleged that photographs and videos circulating online showed some of the individuals at the Government House and in the company of the governor and members of his family.
The party further alleged that some of the individuals had been appointed to political positions under the Adeleke administration and called on the governor to explain the alleged relationships.
In addition, the APC criticized the conduct of some supporters at the police command during the Inspector-General’s visit, accusing them of disrupting the event and contributing to the state’s ongoing political tensions.
As of the time of this report, the allegations made by the APC remain contested, and no official evidence has been publicly presented by law enforcement confirming that Governor Adeleke is harbouring wanted suspects.
The political dispute comes as Osun State prepares for its governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, with security agencies expected to intensify efforts to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
