Fresh tension is building across Nigeria’s South-East as legal counsel to detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that his client’s continued detention represents a collective injustice against the Igbo people.
Speaking via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Aloy Ejimakor stated that Kanu’s imprisonment goes beyond an individual case and symbolises a broader struggle.
“For avoidance of doubt, Ndigbo remains solidly behind Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The chains on his wrists are chains on the wrists of every Igbo,” Ejimakor wrote.

The statement comes amid rising unrest in Aba, where protesters recently took to the streets demanding the release of the detained separatist leader.
