Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has strongly condemned the deadly bomb explosions that rocked Maiduguri, describing the attack as senseless and inhumane.

Speaking during the closing session of the Annual Ramadan Tafsir at the State House Mosque in Abuja, Shettima expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and prayed for the victims.
“May the lives of innocent souls… rest in peace. May Allah grant them Aljannah Firdaus and give their families the strength to bear the loss,” he said.
He stressed that no religion supports the killing of innocent people, calling for an end to terrorism.
“Whatever is motivating them, may Allah either guide them or vanish them from the surface of the earth,” he added.
Call for Unity and Prayers
The Vice President urged Nigerians to continue praying for the nation and for the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking for wisdom, fairness, and courage in leadership.
He also noted that the holy month of Ramadan serves as a reminder of humility, accountability, and compassion.
Message to Leaders
Shettima warned political leaders against arrogance, emphasizing that governance must go beyond policies to include conscience and responsibility before God.
“In the presence of Allah, status does not matter—only character and accountability,” he said.
Sustain Ramadan Lessons
Addressing Muslims, the Vice President urged them to maintain the discipline and values learned during Ramadan even after the fasting period.
“The question is not whether Ramadan is ending, but whether its lessons will remain with us,” he stated.

The event also featured prayers for peace and national stability, led by the Chief Imam of the State House Mosque, who called on leaders to govern with the fear of God.
