Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has raised alarm over a potential shortage of critical military supplies, warning that the escalating Middle-East conflict is already affecting Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia.
Speaking in a recent interview, Zelensky revealed that the ongoing tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran are diverting global military resources away from Ukraine.
Missile Shortage Looming
Zelensky warned that Ukraine could soon face a serious shortage of air defence systems, particularly Patriot missiles, describing the situation as a growing challenge.
“There will definitely be a deficit,” he said, stressing that global stockpiles are being rapidly depleted due to ongoing conflicts.
He highlighted the imbalance between production and usage, noting that while the U.S. produces about 60–65 missiles monthly, hundreds were reportedly used in a single day during the Middle-East conflict.
Putin Stands to Benefit
The Ukrainian leader accused Vladimir Putin of benefiting from prolonged global conflicts, suggesting that a long war in the Middle East weakens Ukraine’s position.
“For Putin, a long war in Iran is a plus,” Zelensky stated, adding that it reduces Western support and drains military resources.
Global Impact: Energy, Weapons, Delays in Peace
Zelensky expressed concern that:
- Rising energy prices are affecting economies
- Weapons production is under strain
- Peace negotiations are being delayed
“I have a very bad feeling… peace efforts are constantly postponed,” he said.
Message to Western Allies
Zelensky also commented on the role of former U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting he is positioning himself as a neutral figure in the conflict.
He called for stronger coordination among allies and urged Trump to work closely with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to present a united front.
Strong Words Against Russia and Iran
In a separate address to British lawmakers, Zelensky criticised both Russia and Iran, describing them as aligned in hostility.
“The regimes in Russia and Iran are brothers in hatred… and we do not want such regimes to threaten Europe or our partners,” he declared.

The warning underscores how interconnected global conflicts are becoming, with wars in different regions now directly impacting one another.
For Ukraine, the fear is clear: as attention and resources shift elsewhere, its fight against Russia could become even more difficult.
