Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has advised young Nigerians against relying on sports betting as a pathway to wealth, urging them instead to embrace diligence, patience, and legitimate means of earning a living.
Speaking during a church service, the cleric cautioned that betting is not a reliable route to financial success and warned that many young people are jeopardizing their future by depending on gambling.
“Young people, 9jabet is not the way to financial fortune. Stop wasting your destiny. Stop wasting your destiny. Stop wasting your destiny,” he said.
Oyedepo emphasized that genuine prosperity comes through consistent effort and perseverance, adding that although success may take time, it is more rewarding and sustainable.
“It may be slow, but it’s sure,” he told the congregation.
Reflecting on his personal life, the bishop credited his late mother for guiding him to the Christian faith at the age of 15. He recalled expressing gratitude to her years later by gifting her a car on his 60th birthday while she was living in the United States.
According to him, his mother was deeply moved by the gesture and expressed surprise that the gift had come from Africa. He noted that she later passed away at the age of 92.
Concluding his message, Oyedepo urged young people to make wise life choices and avoid shortcuts to wealth.
“You better wake up,” he said.
SUNTV Global Channel reports that the cleric’s remarks have generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians joining the conversation on sports betting, financial discipline, and youth empowerment.
