The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised alarm over an alleged attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate an opposition parties’ summit scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused the APC-led administration of intensifying efforts to obstruct opposition political activities across the country.
Abdullahi claimed that the alleged disruption plot comes after earlier incidents in which opposition parties were reportedly denied access to venues in Abuja for similar engagements.
“We have uncovered plans by the ruling APC to disrupt the summit being held by opposition parties in Ibadan today, April 25,” Abdullahi stated.
“After denying us the use of venues in Abuja, they are now attempting to prevent us from holding our meetings elsewhere,” he added.
The ADC spokesperson further described the situation as politically motivated intimidation, insisting that the party would not be deterred.
“They say they are not scared, but their actions show otherwise. We remain committed because we stand with the Nigerian people,” he said.
The development follows previous claims by the party involving alleged pressure on event organisers in Abuja ahead of its national convention. Abdullahi had earlier alleged that officials linked to the Federal Capital Territory Administration threatened the licence of Rainbow Event Centre over the planned ADC convention.
Despite the reported tensions, the ADC successfully held its convention earlier in the week at the same Abuja venue.
The event reportedly attracted several prominent political figures, including former Senate President David Mark, ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, and Senator Ireti Kingibe.
However, attendees raised concerns over poor ventilation and malfunctioning air conditioning systems at the venue.
The APC has not yet issued an official response to the latest allegations.
