Pastor Isah Lazarus Alkali has urged Christians to pursue God’s kingdom and embrace biblical principles as pathways to financial prosperity, stressing that wealth is essential for advancing God’s work on earth.
The cleric made the remarks while ministering at Living Faith Church (LFC), Azugwu, Ebonyi State, during a sermon titled “Gateways to Financial Fortune.”
Drawing inspiration from Zechariah 1:17, Pastor Alkali told the congregation that money is not evil but a vital tool for expanding God’s kingdom and improving lives. According to him, genuine prosperity enables believers to spread abroad and make meaningful contributions to society.
He emphasized that seeking God’s kingdom should remain the foremost priority of every Christian, noting that other blessings would naturally follow. Citing Psalm 22:28, he reminded worshippers that “the kingdom is the Lord’s” and that God remains the governor of all nations.
Speaking on the purpose of wealth in Christianity, Pastor Alkali explained that financial resources are meant to advance the kingdom of God and support its growth. Referring to Haggai 2:3, he encouraged members to remain committed to the church and its mission.
The preacher further warned against the devastating effects of poverty, stating that many social problems stem from economic hardship. He described money as an important instrument for achieving progress and improving living conditions.
Quoting Proverbs 4:18, Pastor Alkali encouraged the congregation not to be afraid of prosperity, expressing confidence that God would bless many worshippers during the service.
He also cautioned against the misconception that every wealthy person acquired riches through unlawful means, insisting that legitimate wealth exists and can be attained through hard work, faith, and obedience to God’s commandments.
The pastor urged members to remain faithful in paying their tithes and supporting kingdom projects, assuring them that obedience to biblical principles attracts divine blessings.
Concluding his message with references from Haggai 1:2–5, Pastor Alkali called on Christians to love one another, shun evil, and cultivate pure hearts as they seek God’s blessings.
The sermon formed part of Living Faith Church’s continuing efforts to strengthen the spiritual and economic well-being of believers in Ebonyi State.
