BREAKING: Governor Adeleke Calls For Redeployment Of Osun Police Commissioner, Alleges Bias Ahead Of Governorship Election

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to immediately redeploy the state’s Commissioner of Police, alleging that he is compromised and unable to carry out his duties impartially ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The governor made the demand while receiving a delegation sent by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, to assess the security situation in Osun following recent incidents of political violence.

According to a statement issued by the Osun State Government, Adeleke accused the Commissioner of Police of lacking both the willingness and capacity to police the state fairly, insisting that the command requires urgent restructuring to restore public confidence.

“The general consensus among Osun people is that the Commissioner of Police is compromised and should be moved out of the state. Osun seeks fair, impartial policing based on the rule of law,” the governor said.

Adeleke stressed that his administration was not seeking preferential treatment but rather professional policing that would protect lives and property while ensuring a peaceful, free and credible governorship election.

He urged the visiting police delegation to relay the concerns of the Osun State Government to the IGP, stating that reshuffling the state’s police leadership would help strengthen public trust in the electoral process.

The governor’s remarks come amid heightened political tension in Osun State, where residents and several civil society organisations have also called for the redeployment of the Commissioner of Police over allegations of bias and partisanship.

The Nigeria Police Force has not publicly responded to Governor Adeleke’s request for the commissioner’s redeployment.

SUNTV Global Channel will continue to monitor the situation and provide verified updates as more information becomes available.
