A Cameroonian musician and humanitarian worker, La Reine Yose, has made an emotional appeal for help, alleging that her detention in Nigeria over a financial dispute has triggered a devastating family crisis in Germany.
The artist, whose real name is Rose Meg Anoma Abuuh, said she was arrested on May 2, 2026, during a brief six-day visit to Nigeria where she planned to carry out humanitarian activities and perform at several events.
According to her account, she was taken into custody shortly before a scheduled performance and later transferred to the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) over a financial dispute involving a Germany-based complainant.
Abuuh claimed she repeatedly explained that she intended to use income from her Nigerian performances to settle the debt but alleged that her appeals were ignored. She further stated that she spent 15 days in detention, during which she reportedly suffered health complications and had her travel documents confiscated.
The musician said the situation has had severe consequences for her five children in Germany, who were left without long-term care arrangements because she expected to return home within days.
In a shocking allegation, Abuuh claimed that her twin children were later placed under social services care, while her 13-year-old daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man she had trusted to check on the children during her absence.
She also disclosed that her family raised funds to help settle part of the debt, paying approximately ₦8 million, while additional bail-related expenses reportedly exceeded ₦2 million. Despite these payments, she said she remains stranded in Nigeria and unable to recover her passport and residence permit.
Abuuh further alleged that the prolonged ordeal has destroyed her professional career, causing her to lose clients and her primary source of income as a freelance vocal coach.
The Cameroonian singer is now appealing to Nigerian authorities, human rights organisations, and international bodies for urgent intervention, requesting a fair review of her case and the return of her travel documents so she can reunite with her children in Germany.
As of the time of this report, the Lagos State Police Command had not publicly responded to the allegations.
