A political storm has erupted in Kaduna State following the reported arrest of popular activist and political commentator, Zamani Musa, widely known as Mycah Dangata, after he publicly called on voters to reject President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
According to sources familiar with the development, Dangata was allegedly taken into custody shortly after a video surfaced online in which he openly campaigned against the ruling APC and declared support for the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and former Senator Danjuma Laah.
In the widely circulated video, the activist urged residents of Kaduna State to unite and vote against the APC at all levels of government, arguing that the party no longer represented the interests of the people.
“Everyone who truly cares about Kaduna State should come together and work against the APC from top to bottom. We should vote out President Tinubu, vote out Governor Uba Sani, and reject every APC candidate,” Dangata reportedly stated.
Sources further claimed that the activist’s arrest was carried out by operatives of Operation Fushin Kaduna, a security task force established by the Kaduna State Government in collaboration with security agencies to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
Although no official statement had been issued by the Kaduna State Government at the time of filing this report, sources suggested that Dangata’s outspoken criticism of Governor Uba Sani and his public comparisons between the governor and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai may have contributed to the action taken against him.
In the video, Dangata praised El-Rufai’s leadership style while accusing the current administration of interfering excessively in local political processes and candidate selection.
He argued that democracy should allow communities to freely choose their leaders without political imposition, describing any contrary approach as a threat to democratic principles.
The reported arrest has sparked conversations among political observers and civil society groups, with many expressing concern over freedom of expression and political participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
