The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of nine kidnapped victims in two separate operations along the Benin–Lagos Expressway and surrounding forest areas.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the victims were rescued alive following coordinated security operations ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika.
The operation involved tactical units, intelligence teams, aerial surveillance, and sustained bush-combing efforts that reportedly pressured the kidnappers into abandoning their captives.
“All victims abducted during the recent kidnapping incident along the Benin–Lagos Expressway have been successfully rescued alive,” the statement said.
The police further revealed that four additional victims earlier kidnapped and held in Imiegba forest, Agenebode, were also rescued in a separate operation.
All nine victims have received medical attention and have since been reunited with their families.
The command assured residents and road users of improved security deployment along the Benin–Lagos corridor, stating that tactical and intelligence operations have been strengthened across the axis.
