Two persons abducted by Boko Haram terrorists during a wedding ceremony in Chibok, Borno State, have escaped from captivity and regained their freedom.
The development was confirmed on Saturday by Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA), who said the victims escaped from their captors on April 14, 2026, before finding their way back to safety.
Kaigama noted that the victims have since reunited with their families in stable condition, describing the escape as a rare but encouraging development amid ongoing insecurity in the region.
“This development gives renewed hope and reminds us that even in difficult times, good news can still come,” he said.
He also called for continued prayers and unity across religious lines, especially for those still in captivity.
“We urge everyone—Muslims and Christians alike—to continue praying for the safe return of those still held, particularly the 416 women and children still in captivity,” he added.
Chibok, in Borno State, remains one of the most affected communities by Boko Haram insurgency, years after the 2014 mass abduction that drew global attention.
