Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid and Asake have reignited their much-celebrated musical chemistry with the release of ‘Jogodo’, the lead single from their highly anticipated joint EP titled ‘REAL, Vol. 1’.
The surprise release on Friday has sent shockwaves across the music scene, instantly positioning the project as one of the most talked-about collaborations of 2026. The four-track EP is scheduled for release on January 23.
A Long-Awaited Bromance Project
Produced under Starboy Entertainment Ltd., GIRAN Republic, and EMPIRE, REAL, Vol. 1 will feature four tracks — ‘Turbulence,’ ‘Jogodo,’ ‘Iskolodo,’ and ‘Alaye.’
Speaking on the collaboration, Wizkid described the creative process as effortless, noting that both artists share a deep musical connection.
“Working on this record with Asake came naturally. We speak the same musical language,” Wizkid said.
Asake echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the bond behind the music.
“When Wizkid and I collaborate, it feels special because it’s coming from a real place of friendship, mutual respect, and love for our culture,” he said.
Fans have been eagerly anticipating a full project from the duo following their Grammy-nominated hit ‘MMS’ from Asake’s 2024 album Lungu Boy, as well as earlier collaborations such as ‘Bad Girl’ and ‘Getting Paid.’
Teasers, Confirmation And Fan Frenzy
Speculation around the EP began in late 2025 after subtle teasers surfaced during an Apple Music takeover. Wizkid later confirmed the project on Facebook, unveiling the EP’s cover art, which he described as a reflection of their bond.
Asake summed up the spirit of the project as “real people in one room — genuine people, heart-to-heart conversation every time.”
‘Jogodo’ Breaks Records Within Hours
‘Jogodo’ has already made history. The song debuted at number one on Spotify Nigeria with 1.388 million streams, setting a new national record for a collaborative release.
On the global stage, the track entered Spotify Global at number 82 with 1.852 million streams, while simultaneously topping Apple Music, YouTube, Audiomack, and Deezer charts in Nigeria.
The record also cracked the UK Apple Music Top 50, debuting at number 49, and is currently charting in over 30 countries worldwide.
Remarkably, the song achieved this success with minimal promotional push, as fans organically propelled it across social media, hailing it as a “collaboration of the year” and praising Asake’s standout verse.

With ‘Jogodo’ dominating charts and conversations globally, expectations are soaring for REAL, Vol. 1. Industry watchers believe the EP could emerge as one of Afrobeats’ defining projects of 2026, further cementing Wizkid and Asake’s influence on the global music stage.
