Yemen’s Houthis Formally Align With Iran, Warn U.S. And Israel Against Intervention

The Houthi Movement in Yemen has officially declared its alignment with Iran in the escalating conflict against the United States and Israel, signaling a dangerous escalation in the region.

In a televised address on Friday, leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi accused the U.S. of supporting Israel’s military objectives and warned that any American action in support of Israel against Iran would be treated as a direct threat to Yemen and the wider “Islamic nation.”

“Any attack or US aggression supporting the Israeli enemy against Iran is an attempt to empower the Israeli enemy to dominate the region. This cannot be tolerated,” al-Houthi said, framing the conflict as an existential struggle over sovereignty, freedom, and national identity.

The statement marks a clear escalation from the Iran-aligned Houthis, who have previously targeted shipping routes in the Red Sea and launched projectiles toward Israeli-linked targets. Al-Houthi called on Muslims worldwide to unite in resistance, describing the confrontation as a collective battle for the honour and salvation of the Islamic nation.

Security analysts warn that the Houthis’ open entry into the conflict could destabilise critical maritime corridors, particularly the Red Sea, and increase the risk of direct confrontation with U.S. forces deployed in the region.

International observers have expressed concern that the expanding conflict could spiral into a full-scale regional war, with severe humanitarian, economic, and geopolitical consequences.
