The has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the capture or identification of an Iraqi militia leader accused of orchestrating attacks on American personnel and facilities across the Middle East.
The individual, identified as , also known as Abu Ala al-Wala’i, is believed to be a top figure in , an Iran-aligned armed group operating in .
According to U.S. authorities, the group has been linked to multiple deadly attacks targeting American diplomatic missions and military personnel in both Iraq and , as well as assaults on civilians.
The bounty was issued under the U.S. Rewards for Justice programme, which encourages individuals with credible information to come forward, offering financial compensation and possible relocation for informants.
The move comes amid heightened regional tensions involving and its allied militias, following a series of military exchanges and retaliatory strikes across the Middle East.
Officials say several Iran-backed groups operating under the banner of the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” including Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, have claimed responsibility for repeated attacks on U.S.-linked assets in recent weeks.
The announcement also follows uncertainty over al-Saraji’s whereabouts after a suspected U.S. airstrike targeted a residence in Baghdad earlier this year.
