US President Says American Support Was Crucial to Israel’s Survival During Iran Conflict
United States President Donald Trump has said Israel would not have survived without American support, claiming that Washington’s intervention during the conflict with Iran prevented the country from facing destruction.
Trump made the remarks ahead of a high-level meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Speaking about the long-standing alliance between the United States and Israel, Trump said American military assistance played a critical role in protecting Israel.
“You know who wouldn’t survive without us? Israel,” Trump said, adding that without U.S. intervention and military action against Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Israel could have been “terminated.”
The meeting between Trump and Netanyahu is expected to focus on several key issues, including developments surrounding the Iran conflict, a proposed peace framework for Lebanon, and efforts to expand the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements aimed at improving relations between Israel and Arab nations.
Trump’s comments come amid continued debate over the scale of U.S. military and financial support for Israel, as well as Washington’s role in Middle East security.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu has recently stated that Israel wants to reduce its reliance on American financial assistance, arguing that the country’s economy has grown strong enough to support itself.
“We can finance ourselves,” Netanyahu said, while describing the long-term goal of reducing U.S. aid.
The Israeli prime minister also reiterated his government’s opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state, maintaining that Israel’s position on the issue remains unchanged.
Trump’s remarks have renewed discussions about the strategic partnership between the United States and Israel, particularly amid ongoing regional tensions and conflicts in the Middle East.
