Nigerian troops operating in the North-East have recorded fresh successes against insurgent groups, neutralising several fighters and recovering weapons and logistics during coordinated offensives across multiple sectors of the theatre.
According to a military statement released on Saturday, the operations were carried out by troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, under the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity campaign aimed at weakening terrorist activities in the region.
In Sector 2, soldiers working closely with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force launched a night raid around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages. During the operation, troops engaged insurgents in a fierce encounter, killing a number of them.
Security forces recovered two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and several mobile phones at the scene. Follow-up exploitation along the escape route of the fleeing fighters also revealed drag marks and a shallow grave, suggesting additional casualties among the terrorists.
Elsewhere in Sector 1, troops conducting clearance patrols along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis intercepted insurgents attempting to cross a major supply route. The suspects reportedly fled under heavy pressure, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items believed to be intended for terrorist elements.
The military noted that while the overall security situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, it is still unpredictable. However, it emphasised that troop morale and operational effectiveness remain high as forces continue to dominate their areas and disrupt insurgent movements.
Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI reassured residents of the North-East that sustained military pressure will continue until terrorism is fully defeated and lasting peace and economic stability are restored to the region.
