The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Chidi Ebere, in connection with the alleged killing of a commercial motorcyclist during a robbery attempt in Igbesa, Ogun State.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, when the suspect allegedly boarded a motorcycle operated by 36-year-old Sunday Ogbu. During the journey, he reportedly attacked the rider in an attempt to steal the motorcycle, leading to a violent struggle.
A witness at the scene quickly raised an alarm, prompting officers from the Igbesa Division to respond. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment but was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.

Police authorities confirmed that the suspect was apprehended at the scene, while the motorcycle and a knife believed to have been used in the attack were recovered as evidence.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the incident and assured residents that justice would be served. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
