Heavy security presence and widespread road closures have taken over Yola as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu begins an official visit to Adamawa State on Monday.
Security operatives were deployed in large numbers across key locations in the state capital, especially along major routes leading to project sites scheduled for inauguration. Armed personnel were stationed at strategic junctions, while patrol vehicles monitored sensitive areas considered potential flashpoints.
As early as Monday morning, authorities barricaded the busy Numan Road corridor linking the airport to the city centre. The shutdown forced motorists to divert through alternative routes, including the Jambutu Bypass near the Air Force Comprehensive School.
Sources also indicated that Bank Road could face a full closure ahead of the president’s scheduled landing at approximately 10:30 a.m., a move expected to trigger even tighter movement restrictions across the capital.
Meanwhile, the city has taken on a ceremonial atmosphere, with large billboards and banners displaying the president’s image dominating major streets, roundabouts, and public buildings.
During the visit, Tinubu is expected to inaugurate several key projects, including a newly completed eight-lane Bank Road, a modern High Court Complex, a new Governor’s Office, an automated Government House gate, and a Mega Model Secondary School located opposite the airport.
In a symbolic cultural gesture, the president is also expected to appear in traditional attire associated with the Marghi ethnic group of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, highlighting local identity and political solidarity.
The visit has effectively placed Yola under controlled movement, with visible security operations continuing as the state hosts the Commander-in-Chief.
