Tension Soars: Iran Accuses US, Israel Of “War Crime” Airstrikes, Warns Of Imminent Retaliation

SUNTV GLOBAL REPORT — February 28, 2026

The government of Iran has strongly accused the United States and Israel of carrying out what it described as a “criminal military aggression,” vowing a decisive response while invoking international law to justify potential retaliation.

In an official statement released Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry claimed that coordinated airstrikes targeted multiple defense facilities and civilian locations across several cities earlier in the day. The ministry noted the timing of the alleged attacks, saying they occurred just before the Persian New Year (Nowruz) and during the holy month of Ramadan.

Addressing citizens, Iranian authorities described the strikes as a direct violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Officials also claimed the incident happened while diplomatic engagements between Tehran and Washington were still ongoing.

According to the statement, Iran said it had deliberately pursued negotiations despite what it called clear signs of hostility, in order to demonstrate its commitment to peaceful resolution and to expose what it termed “unjustified aggression.”

However, Tehran declared that all diplomatic efforts had now been exhausted.

“The Iranian armed forces are fully prepared and will respond to this aggression with authority,” the ministry stated, stressing that defending the country is now a national priority.

Iran also cited provisions of the United Nations Charter, specifically Article 2(4), which prohibits the use of force against a nation’s sovereignty, and Article 51, which recognizes the right of self-defense.

Tehran called on the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General to take immediate action, urging member states — particularly regional nations and members of the Non-Aligned Movement — to condemn the alleged attacks.

The statement warned that the situation poses a serious threat to global and regional peace, while reiterating that Iran would not back down.

“History shows that Iran has never surrendered to foreign aggression,” the ministry declared, adding that any response would be “decisive and consequential.”
