The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers, including a man accused of orchestrating the abduction of his own father in a disturbing case that has stunned residents of Fufore Local Government Area.
The suspects — identified as Lawali Haruna (45), Yahaya Ibrahim (25), and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu (28) — were apprehended during a coordinated intelligence-led operation at a hideout in Jera village, Malabu District.
According to police authorities, the arrest followed the January 30, 2026 kidnapping of Alhaji Ahmadu, with investigations revealing that one of the suspects is the biological son of the victim.
In a statement released on February 9, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the operation was carried out under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, as part of intensified efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crimes across the state.
The raid was conducted jointly by police operatives and members of Miyetti-Allah, leading to the capture of the trio at what officials described as a suspected kidnappers’ den.
Police sources confirmed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the victim safely and track down other members of the kidnapping syndicate still at large.
“The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue,” the statement added.
The Command praised the cooperation between security agencies and local stakeholders, assuring residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property.
The shocking case highlights the growing complexity of Nigeria’s kidnapping crisis, with criminal activities increasingly taking unexpected and deeply troubling turns.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
