The Qatari government has strongly condemned the brutal attack on a community in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria, which left dozens dead and several women and children abducted.
In a statement released in Doha on Monday, February 23, 2026, Qatar described the violence as a “grave act” and expressed full solidarity with Nigeria during this tragic period.
“The State of Qatar voices its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted a village in Zamfara State, leading to dozens of deaths and the abduction of women and children,” the statement read.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized its consistent stance against all forms of violence, terrorism, and criminality, regardless of motive. The ministry also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and pledged support to the Nigerian government and citizens.
“The Ministry expresses the State of Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of Nigeria, wishing for the safe return of the abductees,” the statement added.
The attack in Zamfara reflects growing security concerns in northern Nigeria, where communities have increasingly suffered from armed violence and kidnappings. Reports from SaharaReporters indicate that at least 30 people were killed by suspected bandits in Dutsin Dan Ajiya village, Anka Local Government Area. Residents said the assailants arrived on motorbikes, blocked access points, and unleashed terror on the defenseless community last Thursday night.
