Aba, Abia State – March 11, 2026
A coalition of pro-Biafra activists has announced plans for a massive protest in Aba, Abia State, calling for the release of the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Organized under the banner Coalition of Lovers of Freedom, the group is urging supporters from across the region to converge in Aba for what they have dubbed the “One Million March”, scheduled for March 12, 2026.
A flyer circulating on social media, seen by SUNTV Global Channel, describes the event as “the mother of all marches”, appealing to participants to “come one, come all” and peacefully demand the freedom of their leader.
Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Nigerian government since his controversial rearrest in 2021, remains a central figure in pro-Biafra activism. His continued detention has fueled agitation in the South-East, sparking previous protests and sit-at-home orders.
Security authorities have issued repeated warnings against unlawful gatherings linked to pro-Biafra activities, citing potential risks to public safety. It remains uncertain whether the march will proceed without intervention.
Supporters are being urged to mobilize in large numbers, as the group calls for unity under the slogan: “Free Our Leader.”
