PDP Raises Alarm Over Delayed Kuje Area Council Results, Warns Against Manipulation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate release of outstanding results from Kuje Central and Kabi wards in the ongoing Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, raising concerns that delays could undermine the credibility of the process.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the opposition party noted that while most figures from the two wards have reportedly been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IREV), they have yet to be officially announced.

“We are concerned that the results from two wards in Kuje Area Council are yet to be declared by @inecnigeria,” the statement read, highlighting fears that the delay could create room for manipulation.

The PDP specifically warned that its narrow lead in the affected wards might be at risk, alleging that security forces could be used to interfere with the outcome.

“This delay has raised apprehension because of the marginal lead that the Peoples Democratic Party @OfficialPDPNig has there, which we are aware is under the threat of being manipulated using security forces,” the party stated.

Urging INEC Chairman to intervene, the PDP stressed the importance of transparency and electoral integrity, saying: “Election results must remain a true reflection of the votes of the people; anything less invalidates the entire process. We should uphold the sanctity of the ballot.”

The call comes amid heightened political tension in the FCT, following chairmanship announcements favouring the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abaji, AMAC, Bwari, and Kwali councils, while the PDP secured a key victory in Gwagwalada.
