The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya over allegations that it approved a total of ₦315 million in financial support and allocated four plots of land to a Kano-based musician.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, the PDP claimed it received credible information indicating that the state government approved ₦115 million for the purchase of a Toyota Coaster bus for the musician, in addition to a ₦200 million cash grant, bringing the total value of the alleged support to ₦315 million.
The opposition party argued that such resources should have been directed toward addressing pressing developmental challenges, particularly the growing number of out-of-school children in the state.
According to the PDP, Gombe currently has 787,619 out-of-school children, and the funds allegedly spent on the musician could have been invested in expanding access to education, improving healthcare, supporting agriculture, developing infrastructure, and empowering young people.
The party also alleged that the beneficiary received four plots of land in the Shehu Abubakar District Layout. It expressed concern over the reported allocation, noting that the same district was recently affected by a government land revocation exercise in which several landowners allegedly had their allocations reduced without compensation.
The PDP called on the Gombe State Government to publicly explain the basis for the alleged financial support and land allocation, insisting that transparency and accountability require clear justification for the use of public resources.
“The people of Gombe State deserve a clear explanation regarding these decisions,” the party said, adding that public funds and assets should be managed in a manner that benefits the wider population.
The allegations come days after the PDP also criticised the Yahaya administration over the demolition of structures across the state, the alleged removal of Gombawa Motors from the Dankwambo Mega Motor Park, and the conduct of the recent local government elections.
As of the time of filing this report, the Gombe State Government had not publicly responded to the latest allegations raised by the opposition party.
