Fresh controversy has erupted in following allegations that the abducted and tortured social media activist known as Justice Crack, reportedly chaining him to a tree for over 72 hours after he published content exposing alleged military misconduct.
According to eyewitness accounts and viral videos circulating on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the activist was allegedly targeted after he criticised a reported extrajudicial killing involving soldiers and raised concerns about the welfare of military personnel.
A relative seen in a widely shared video claimed the activist was left exposed under harsh weather conditions, describing his treatment as inhumane and unlawful.
“Justice has been under the sun, tied to a tree for days. His only offence is speaking for oppressed Nigerians,” the woman was heard saying in the video.
The allegations have triggered widespread public outrage, with the hashtag #FreeJusticeCrackNow trending as Nigerians demand his immediate release and proper legal processing if any offence was committed.
Critics argue that if the activist committed any crime, due process should involve the Nigeria Police Force or other civilian security agencies rather than military detention.
The incident has also reignited debate about the military’s increasing involvement in civilian-related enforcement, with human rights advocates warning of growing abuse of power and lack of accountability.
