A Nigerian woman has been arrested by authorities in Hyderabad over her alleged involvement in an interstate drug trafficking network.
According to reports, the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Excise Department following a targeted surveillance operation based on intelligence about a drug courier arriving from Mumbai.
She was intercepted near the Paradise area of Hyderabad while allegedly waiting to receive or distribute an illegal consignment.
A search conducted on her belongings reportedly led to the discovery of five packets containing approximately 7.5 grams of cocaine. Officials confirmed the substance after preliminary analysis, leading to her immediate arrest.
Investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly purchased the drugs in Mumbai for about ₹15,000 (approximately ₦260,000), with plans to resell them at a higher price within the Hyderabad black market.
Authorities have charged her under India’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act), a stringent law governing drug-related offences. She remains in custody as investigations continue.
Law enforcement agencies are also working to uncover her alleged network, including suppliers and intended recipients of the drugs.
